FULL ITINERARY
Day 1 | Boat ride from Luang Prabang to Pakbeng
As the bikes are loaded onto the boat, you're ready to embark on a unique journey through the serene landscapes of Northern Laos. Few travellers have had the privilege of experiencing this adventure. As the boat gently drifts along the Mekong River, you'll have ample time to connect with your guide, who will share insights about Laos, its rich culture, and the exciting road ahead. A traditional Lao-style picnic lunch will be served on board, giving you a taste of the local flavours. Sit back, relax, and let the stunning scenery unfold around you.
Day 2 | Pakbeng – OUDOMXAY(70 km)
After a short vehicle transfer, your cycling adventure begins in the heart of rural Laos, where life remains untouched by the hustle of modernity. As you pedal through this remote region, you'll encounter hill tribe villagers from communities like the Phu Thai, Thai Lu, Hmong, Thai Dam, Lao, and Khamu, each living simply off the land. The locals greet you with warmth, as tourism is still a novelty here. Along the way, you'll stop at traditional weaving villages, where families continue the age-old craft of weaving on wooden looms beneath the shade. After conquering a 300-meter pass, you'll be rewarded with a long, scenic descent that leads you into Oudomxay, the capital of the Oudomxay Province.
Day 3 | Oudomxay - Nong KHIAW (70-110 km)
A one-hour uphill transfer then begin your cycling adventure at an altitude of 1,300 meters, where the air is crisp and the views are breathtaking. As you ride, you'll pass through Hmong villages, where daily life unfolds against a backdrop of rugged hills. A long, exhilarating descent takes you down to Pak Mong, where you'll pause for a well-deserved lunch. From there, you'll continue cycling along a quiet road, surrounded by the towering limestone karst mountains that define the landscape near Nong Khiaw. Your day concludes with an overnight stay at a charming resort, offering stunning views of both the mountains and the peaceful Nam Ou River.
DAY 4 |100 waterfalls trek
Start the day with a boat ride on the Nam Ou to a small village where you can learn about the way of life along this river. Then trek through small streams and rice paddies to reach the base of the 100 waterfalls. For the next few hours, you will see only water and jungle and hear the sound of clear waterfall cascades. The pools around you are very inviting for a refreshing splash.
Our guide leads us through the cascades and prepares a local-style lunch on the falls in the middle of it all. Then take a small villagers’ trail from the top of the falls back down into the valley; along the way, you’ll take in views of the landscapes of the Nam Ou Valley.
Hiking back to the village, we’ll have more time to observe the daily life here before heading back by a small boat to Nong Khiaw.
Day 5 | Nong KHIAW - Luang Prabang (95 km)
Today begins with a picturesque journey down the Nam Ou River, setting the tone for the day's adventure. As the river winds its way through the landscape, the roads ahead become flatter and smoother, allowing you to cover the longer distance to Luang Prabang with ease. Along the way, only a few gentle passes need to be climbed, and soon you'll be cycling alongside the Nam Ou River, with breathtaking views of towering mountain ranges in the background. The final stretch takes you to the holy cave complex where the Ou river merges with the mighty Mekong.
